Clint Eastwood RNC Speech: “We Own This Country”

Clint Eastwood had some great moments. Some Socialists are upset with him, because they feel that he was disrespectful to the President, but I guess they forgot about the vicious attacks against GW Bush.

Clint also refereed to the 23 million people out of work as a national disgrace and then he followed with “when someone doesn’t get the job done, it is time to let them go”.

  1. I THOUGHT CLINT DID A GREAT JOB IN HIS USUAL DRY SENSE OF HUMOR… A BIT HARD TO FOLLOW IN SPOTS BUT OVERALL QUITE EFFECTIVE FOR HIS AGE.. HE HAS NOBODY LEFT TO IMPRESS .,

  2. ”I heard that Clint Eastwood was channeling me at the RNC. My lawyers and I are drafting our lawsuit.” – Bob Newhart twittered

Eastwood’s not showing signs of old-timers’ disease. He was channeling Newhart, so the sentences broken at mid-point, the stammering and the hesitations make perfect sense. That is, after all, how Newhart has always performed his stand-up routines.

I think the joke’s on those who say he was “doddering” and “senile” last night and Eastwood’s getting the last laugh on them.

  3. The best part of the Clint Eastwood speech at RNC last night was where he said

“I would just like to say something, ladies and gentlemen. Something that I think is very important. It is that, you, we — we own this country. We — we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it.”

You need to keep in mind that for many years Clint has received cash and/or tax breaks for such films as “Gran Torino” and “Mystic River” from various US states. Then there are other films that Clint did overseas such as “Invictus” (in South African) and “Hereafter” (in England) where he received foreign government support.

Yes, Clint did the films himself and owns the films (or maybe they are owned by some bankers from Wall St.) but he did it with a little help from the politicians, and oh yes, the taxpayers. Clint needs to come clean and admit that government funding of films is ‘standard practice’ in this country and Clint demands government money like almost everyone else in the film industry.

    1. Those tax breaks are, because he is CREATING JOBS. Taxes are suppressing job creation and that is why nobody is hiring right now. They know what Obama has on his mind for term #2. Tax it, break it and take it.
