There is still more to this story, because he was aware and alert enough to know that being committed to a mental hospital was BAD. So, he knew right from wrong otherwise he would have killed long ago.
I still stand by my comment that Lanza would have been competent enough to stand trial (he was not insane) if he didn’t take his own life. Also, taking his own life when he heard the police sirens coming was proof that he knew this act was wrong and CRIMINAL.
