There is a little thing that cops can do other than arrest Santa Claus in front of children. It is called WARN and ADMONISH.

This was possibly an Occupy Wall Street stunt, but use some COMMON SENSE…

Steve, why would you intimate that OWS had some involvement with this incident when there’s not a shred of evidence to this effect? It’s one thing to question the propriety of the arrest, but to make groundless inferences like this only dilutes your credibility.

But Steve, there’s absolutely NOTHING on the video to suggest this guy had anything to do with OWS, you idiot.

Did you read the description that accompanies the video clip?

“After wrestling Santa to the ground and placing handcuffs on him, activists also arrested Corey Elf after he used sidewalk chalk to write “Free Santa.” Both were arrested for Criminal Mischief, while Santa may face additional resisting arrest charges.

Occupy Austin stands in solidarity with Santa Claus and his elf. Three members of Occupy Austin, Audrey Steiner, Corey Williams, and Jim Bird were arrested earlier in 2012 for chalk. Though they were held in Travis County Jail, they have not been charged with any crime, raising questions about whether Troopers are arresting activists to silence them.”

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t let OWS activists take me under arrest. I suspect most men in Santa suites wouldn’t let that filthy bunch of freeloaders fuck with them, either, unless, of course, the guy in the Santa suit is a member of the filthy bunch of freeloaders.

I think you owe Steve an apology for calling him an idiot, idiot.

ummm….there’s nothing on this video that has anything to do with liberals. Or conservatives. Fact is-the cops arrested the guy dressed as Santa for writing on the sidewalk.

Beginning a comment with “ummm” is like beginning a comment with “I’m a condescending twit.” Just thought you ought to know that.

Arrested by Officers in Austin, Texas. Are you happy now? Arresting Santa Claus in front of children for writing on the sidewalk with chalk is RETARDED. Find a real criminal…

        Your headline is still wrong.

I will change it to Texas PD….same thing. Someone with AUTHORITY from the Austin PD had to approve of this arrest or sign off on it since it happened in their jurisdiction.

Point is, Steve, the OWS activists did NOT arrest anyone. The police did. And I happen to agree with you no one should have been arrested for writing on the sidewalk with chalk.

          • December 24, 2012 at 11:05 am

I said it was possibly a stunt to get arrested by OWS. Egg Harbor Township, NJ sounds like a fancy place. Get lost stalker…

Someone with AUTHORITY from the Austin PD had to approve of this arrest or sign off on it since it happened in their jurisdiction. This arrest should have been voided. I have been ordered to make quality of life arrests in the past as well, but not Santa Claus …what a joke.

    • December 24, 2012 at 9:39 am

I am retired NYPD and I will side with the police over the Occupy Wall Street trash any day, but this arrest of Santa Claus writing on the sidewalk with chalk was total nonsense..
